2006

Perth Royal Show – 2006 Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition
• Gold medal: Third Pillar Gargano Blend (varieties Minerva and Leccino) was first in its class. The judge’s comments were: Sweet olive fruit nose. A complex fragrant flavour. Firm bitterness and pungency. A well balanced, lively robust style.

• Silver medal: Third Pillar Geographe Blend (Varieties Frantoio, Leccino and Minerva) was third in its class.The judge’s comments were: Herbaceous tomato leaf aroma. A well balanced oil with developing flavours, clean finish and strong bitterness.

• Bronze medal: (Variety Frantoio). The judge’s comments were: Hints of olive leaf on the nose with a slightly lower intensity on the palate. Mild bitterness and pungency.

The award winning oils from the 2006 Perth Royal Show are those currently available from Third Pillar retailers.
